Marylinda Govaars, a visiting researcher at the Cobb Institute this summer, has been working with an assemblage of artifacts excavated at the site of Machaerus by the Cobb's first Director, Dr. Jerry Vardaman. Of particular interest are 19 ostraca with written inscriptions on them that were thought to have been lost after Dr. Vardaman passed away.
