The Department of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures offered two summer field schools in 2018 that were taught by Dr. Shane Miller with assistance from Cobb archaeologist Derek Anderson.  The survey field school took place at the Swag site in South Carolina as well as in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.  The excavation field school returned to the Hester site outside of Amory, MS.  The students worked hard in the heat, learned a lot, and we are in the process of cleaning, sorting, and cataloging the artifacts that they recovered.
