Grieder Collection in the Cobb Museum

The Doctor Ted Grieder Collection
and the
Theodore G. Grieder Endowed Fund for Excellence

The "Theodore G. Grieder Endowed Fund for Excellence" was established in 2004 by Mrs. Lucile Leigh-Grieder of El Prado, New Mexico, in honor of her late husband who died in August 2003. Dr. Grieder was formerly Curator of Special Collections in the libraries at New York University. During his later years Dr. Grieder had decided to will his collections of Classical and Near Eastern artifacts to the Lois Dowdle-Cobb Museum where they are being held as the "Doctor Ted Grieder Collection." The collection reflects Dr. Grieder's interest in ancient jewelry and other ornamental artifacts.

Earnings from the Grieder Fund for Excellence are to be used to support activities that complement, enhance, or expand the mission of the Cobb Institute Museum, specifically in efforts to provide support for artifact curation and display, and for related research. The Fund is held as an open fund by the MSU Foundation and may be increased through additional contributions. MSU and the Cobb Institute are most grateful to Dr. and Mrs. Grieder for providing this much needed enhancement and support.
