Item 71227
Figure on Plinth

JPEG Image of Figurine No. 71227
Fragment of plinth figurine preserving right front corner and top of plinth. Right foot with three incised toes angles slightly towards proper right; some damage to tops of toes and right edge of foot which appears to have occurred in the mold. Foot broken slightly above level of ankle with no remains of drapery visible. Red paint seen under scope on top of foot as well as very visible patch just to right of ankle. Front face of plinth also bears traces of red paint. Top surface of plinth slopes very slightly upwards. Plinth has a torus molding at upper edge; lower edge is broken but appears to have not had a molding. Press marks and finger prints of coroplast visible on interior of fragment. Additional clay used to buildup the back side of the plinth, likely for structural support. Figurine would have been hollow. Surface color differs from fabric suggesting possible slip. Age: 5th or 4th c. BCE.
