Plan of Stratum VIB1A
Walls F7012 and F7016 (along with Buttress Wall F7017) formed portions of two rooms of another building in the northernmost part of Area F7. The presence of a Tabun F7028 on Surface F7032 and pottery on Surface F7018 suggest also a domestic unit whose southern limit is within Area F7. Little else can be determined about this structure at the present stage of excavation. Wall F7012-F8008, built directly against Wall F7003 and Wall F8011, is likely an addition to the housing architecture in Areas F7 and F8 more recent than the construction of Wall F7003. The gap between Wall F7003 and Wall F8011, for example, appears to indicate a doorway now blocked by Wall F7012-F8008. (It is also possible that Wall F7012-F8008 was built simply to strengthen Wall F7003; however, Wall F7012 simultaneously became the southern divider wall between the pillared building in Areas F7-G7 and a (new?) building to the north.) Both the construction of Wall F7012-F8008 and the blocking of Doorway F7025 mark a major alteration to the pillared building in Areas F7-G7.

Wall F7012 is built against the north face of Wall F7003. Surfaces F7018 and F7032 run to the north face of Wall F7012. Wall F7016 abuts Wall F7012; Buttress F7017 was built against Wall F7012. Wall F7012 may have been the northern wall of the pillared building in Areas H7, G7, F7. However, because Wall F7003 and F7012 are constructed face-to-face, the suggestion here is that Wall F7003 was added to help prevent collapse of Wall F7012, which appears to show a slight tilt. Cobbles F7019 was set into Surface F7006 and against Wall F7003. Appears to have been prepared as a special area for storage of large vessels, several of which (along with loom weights) were found on F7019. The blocking of Doorway F7025 effectively removed the room in Area F8 from traffic and use, since no other entrance to that room has been found.
